Austonia: Austin-based off-road racer heading to Mexico for Baja 1000

Austonia Article

Austin's Charles Dorrance is off to Mexico to race the Baja 1000 later this month.

The veteran driver, who raced in the Summer X Games and various Stadium Super Trucks events, has been racing off road for more than 10 years.

He's currently in 4th position in the Trophy Truck Spec division of the Baja series, coming into the last series race of the year.

Dorrance is a third generation racer and describes what it's like to drive remote off-road events: "We race through rain, blistering heat, dust, and some of the roughest terrain imaginable, possibly driving over 24 hours straight."
